Local powerlifter signs to Midland University

Special to the Advance

SAN JUAN — PSJA Early College High School senior Madison Garcia signed a letter of commitment to powerlift for Midland University on April 5, during a special signing ceremony.

Garcia, a standout athlete, and dedicated student, has achieved remarkable success both academically and athletically during her tenure at PSJA ECHS.

Garcia’s commitment to excellence in powerlifting has been evident throughout her high school career. Not only has she displayed incredible dedication and determination in her training, but she has also consistently demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and leadership qualities.

One of Garcia’s most notable achievements was winning the title of State Powerlifting Champion at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association Competition in the 148 lb. weight class. Her hard work and perseverance have undoubtedly paid off, culminating in this well-deserved opportunity to continue her athletic career on a scholarship at the collegiate level.

In addition to her powerlifting achievements, Garcia will graduate with an Associate Degree from South Texas College before earning her high school diploma through the PSJA Early College Program. She is also a member of the PSJA ECHS National Honor Society and the PSJA ECHS Cheerleading Team, where she was awarded All-American her senior year and performed in London’s New Year Parade.

Garcia will pursue a major in Biology at Midland University.

Madison would like to thank her parents for always being there for her and pushing her to do her best, her family for their continuous support, her coaches, and the PSJA ECHS Bear Community for always supporting her.
