What’s printed below, about the point of living, was originally attributed to the comedian George Carlin shortly after his wife of 36 years died from cancer. Turns out, the written piece, still often bounced around the internet, titled Paradox of our Times, wasn’t written by Carlin after all.

It took many, many years for me to understand that life is about eternity, not about time. And the essence of Christianity is eternal life in heaven. Those who reject Christianity are those who do not understand, nor accept, the idea of eternal life. Life on earth is so real to these unbelievers, so immediate, so visual and touchable that it becomes nearly impossible for them to imagine or consider anything spiritual. And what is so chilling to me is that these folks who reject eternal life and Christianity are the same folks who believe they will live a long life, and death for them, is just a distant and obscure appointment. Total disrespect for the power of death.
Palm Valley Animal Society is excited to highlight the significance of Adopt a Senior Dog Month throughout November. The campaign aims to shed light on the often overlooked senior dogs in shelters and encourage the community to consider the unique benefits of adopting these intelligent and loving companions.
