Pharr Bridge has seen amazing growth since it opened in 1995

It was during an early cold morning in January 1995 back before the sun had even risen when city of Pharr officials and other local dignitaries huddled together outside trying to stay warm, met at the newly constructed Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge to officially commemorate the completion of what had proven to be a long process of bringing an international bridge to the Hub City (Pharr).

New True-Crime Book for Sale

Two weeks ago I was stupid enough to publish a similar story to this one, promising that the new true-crime book, Murder for the Love of Money, would be out that same week. I thought I was this close to wrapping it all up, so making that claim and putting it in print never worried me. The older I grow, I think, the dumber I get. Isn’t it supposed to work the exact opposite? Makes me wonder what I’ll be like 10 years from now. Will I have to wear a name tag when I go out in case someone taps me on the shoulder from behind and says, “Hi, I’m Bob, what’s your name?”

No more acts of “good faith” emanating from PSJA ISD

If PSJA ISD is going to operate in a spirit of Bad Faith with The Advance News Journal moving forward, as opposed to the spirit of Good Faith, which has been the norm between this district and this newspaper for decades, then who else might be treated in the same fashion? What other vendor is going to be told that the contract it currently has with PSJA ISD is no longer valid because someone associated with the district has just found a loophole, a technicality if you will, to break it?
