I hate to even use the phrase “pick-up line,” but most guys, if not all guys, know what I’m talking about. You want to meet some nice girl, if “nice” is what you’re after, however you might want to define the word, so you need some way of introduction.
Last Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg “God is on my side” Abbott rolled out a new executive order, dictating that no public entity or school district can mandate that employees or visitors wear a face mask on public property. The school part begins June 4. The other public entities were forced to abide by Abbott's new order immediately. Private businesses remain exempt and can still mandate masks.
I remember the day when “Fifty” sounded old.
Yeah, I know, a newspaper shouldn’t put a written opinion on its front page in place of a straight-news piece. It might irritate and annoy half my audience. But when you run the paper, thankfully, you can do what you want. In this case, I want to take the time to lambast the hell out of the governor, Greg “Can I get a witness” Abbott, who is not only wrong with regard to his latest facemask mandate as it relates to governmental bodies and schools, but he’s a hypocrite besides. In this case, call Greg a two-fer.
It’s not official, never is, but it looks like the PSJA ISD Board of Trustees is now split wide open 5-2 based on recent votes that include important matters like spending tax dollars on new hires at the administrative level.
