Okay, before anyone gets offended and thinks that I’m mocking those poor souls suffering from Alzheimer’s, I’m not. I lived the experience with a close family member for almost seven years, so I know the stress and emotional pain that comes tied to the disease.
One part of the economy that’s obviously been hit hard by the coronavirus and its related disease, COVID-19, has been the hotel/ motel industry. With non-essential travel to Mexico shut down since last spring, the hotel industry along the border has had it particularly rough since so much of its trade came from south of the border.
If one listens to President Trump, mail-in ballots are a total mess. In fact, after last week’s debate with Joe Biden, the president tweeted: “Cancel Ballots and go out and VOTE, just like in past decades, when there were no problems.”
So, how has this lethal global pandemic changed Hidalgo County’s criminal justice system, you might ask? Or maybe you don’t want to ask, ignore the reality of today, and instead binge watch The Golden Girls or Friends. You know, something fun, light, and happy as opposed to the stark, dark reality of today. Tune in the Hallmark cable channel, and tune out COVID?
