Do me a favor and cut me a little slack this week. Please. Why? It’s because I feel as if there aren’t nearly enough local news stories in this issue; enough columns as well. Truth be told, this pandemic has me down. Way down.
PHARR — Last week, the City of Pharr partnered with Vanguard Academy, the Food Bank RGV, Walmart, and the Collaborative for Fresh Produce to fight summer hunger and help families in need. Working together, the partners distributed food for 1,000 students and families in Pharr.
When food is in short supply for those in need, it can’t be good news that one of Hidalgo County’s largest food-distribution centers is now reporting that three of its employees have recently tested positive for COVID-19.
You know the safest bet for a politician, don’t you, especially a governor like Texas’s Greg Abbott? When good things happen, you take the credit. When bad things happen, you find a way to divert the blame on to some other poor sap.
