Presumably as a sign of solidarity with Black Lives Matter and a protest against the murder of George Floyd, a handful of McAllen ISD Nikki Rowe seniors refused to stand during last week’s graduation ceremony while the National Anthem was being played and sung.

Daniel Peña, 44, probably woke up last Friday morning never thinking he’d be in police custody that afternoon, but such is life. Now known across social media as “Chainsaw Man,” Peña made the mistake last Friday of accosting peaceful protesters in downtown McAllen who were marching in support of Black Lives Matter. His fate may not have proven as bad as it did if Peña hadn’t made the mistake of pulling a chainsaw from his company pickup, revving up the saw, and yelling repeatedly at the marchers: “Go home. Don’t let those f###ing n###ers out there control you. This is the Valley.”
