Delgado charged with bribery
By Gregg Romero Wendorf
State District Court Judge Rodolfo “Rudy” Delgado has been taking bribes from at least one attorney for the past 10 years, according to a federal criminal complaint unsealed in federal court Monday morning.
Delgado was arrested Friday after a Texas DPS trooper pulled him over for allegedly speeding in Brooks County, north of the Border Patrol checkpoint, according to a source familiar with the traffic stop. At the time, he was headed to a Democratic Party campaign event in Goliad because he is currently running for a seat (Place 4) on the Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals (bad timing). Presumably, the feds already had an arrest warrant “in the system,” because shortly after the stop, Delgado was taken into custody and spent the weekend at the East Hidalgo Detention Center in La Villa. After his arrest, FBI agents were seen at both his courtroom and home locations.
