Pharr Boys & Girls gym still closed to the public
By Gregg Romero Wendorf
PHARR – Representatives with the City of Pharr and the Pharr Boys & Girls Club are still meeting behind closed doors, trying to resolve the problems that led to the city’s de-funding the club to the tune of $120,000 (last year’s amount) and the closing of the south side gym since December 2017. So far, however, no resolution has been announced.
The Advance News Journal published the city’s version of this stand-off in its March 21, 2018 issue, but so far, the Boys & Girls Club has yet to respond in kind, despite requests for it to do so. This newspaper has even foregone the standard Q & A format and offered the club to simply submit a written response to the allegations made by the city in the March story, but so far, nothing has been forthcoming.
