Forty-five people die due to COVID-19 complications; 287 tested positive for the virus

EDINBURG – Forty-five residents have died today due to COVID-19 complications, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Wednesday. Another 287 tested positive for the virus which brings the total number of known positive cases to 16,375.

 “My deepest sympathies to the 45 families who have lost their loved one to COVID,” Judge Cortez said.I remind you to do your part to keep your family, friends, and community safe. Social distancing is one of the best tools to avoid being exposed and slow the spread of COVID-19.” 

There are 7,106 net active cases and 586 people were released from isolation on Wednesday meaning that they have been symptom-free for 10 days, including three days without a fever.  There are currently 881 people hospitalized with complications from the virus; 256 of those cases are being treated in intensive care units.
