Weslaco ISD Prom Drive underway
Weslaco High School (WHS) holds an annual prom dress drive, collecting gently used formal dresses, suits, and accessories (like shoes, jewelry, ties) for students in need, often through their “La Pantera Boutique” initiative.
This year is no different. For kind-hearted people who may have access to prom-related dresses, shoes, ties, suits, the need, as always, is there for families struggling just to put food on the table, gas in the tank, much less the rising cost that comes with a high school prom.
Recently, the “Boutique” put out a flyer, explaining the details: “Last year, thanks to our amazing community, La Pantera Boutique was able to give away over 50 prom dresses and suits to students in need — and we’re hoping to grow that number this year.”
If anything, more families are struggling this year than in years past.
“If you have gently used prom dresses, evening gowns, suits, button-up shirts, or accessories, please consider donating and helping a student feel confident and celebrated on their big night.”
According to La Pantera Boutique, we can all make a difference if we have the means and a charitable heart: “Every donation makes a difference, and we are so thankful for the continued support from the City of Weslaco. Let’s make prom magical for even more students this year.”
