PHARR — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility thwarted a smuggling attempt of alleged cocaine and methamphetamine worth $4,046,000 in a commercial shipment of fresh produce arriving from Mexico. CBP Field Operations also seized $536,000 worth of alleged cocaine hidden in a commercial passenger bus and in pickup truck.
Violators of traffic laws who failed to show up for their day in court will now have even additional time to make arrangements to take care of their tickets without fear of being arrested or receiving any additional fines. The City of McAllen’s Municipal Court Failure to Appear Amnesty Program has been extended once again to October 31, 2020. This year, the amnesty is being extended due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and the need to stay at home.
EDINBURG – Thirty-one more people in Hidalgo County died from COVID-19 related complications and 115 more have tested positive, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Monday. These numbers reflect a three-day total since health officials began taking weekends off two weeks ago for the first time since local infections began.
