EDINBURG - Ricardo D. Hernandez, “Riche” 87, of Edinburg was reunited with his loving wife and son on January 3, 2021. He was born April 3, 1933 in Mercedes to Francisco and Josefa Diaz and was later adopted by Federico and Trinidad Hernandez. As a young boy he was the heart and joy of his family. He was an alter server at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and attended St. Joseph Catholic School. Ricardo joined the Texas National Guard in Fort Hood. He would later meet and marry the love of his life, Marcela. Together they would travel to Indiana and work in the tomato and cucumber fields. He was a loving and caring father who worked hard to provide for his family. Throughout the years he worked in the pumpkin fields of New Mexico, the rice fields of El Campo, Texas, and the cabbage and watermelon fields of the valley. He worked for Vale Mayes & Co., Farmers Market and Frontera for many years as crew leader and harvester. He knew his work well and could not wait for the next crop to begin. He took pride in the work he did.
