Comptroller distributes $1.1B in monthly sales tax revenue
Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced he will send $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for October.
This distribution — which will be sent to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts — is 3.9 percent more than last year around the same time (October 2024).
These allocations are based on sales made in August by businesses that report tax monthly.
How did other cities fare?
Through a comparative lens between the same reporting period last year (Oct. 2024) and this year (Oct. 2025), certain cities saw some changes.
Here’s a look at some cities:
• Austin up 0.82 percent
• Brownsville up 4.99 percent
• Dallas up 1.44 percent
• El Paso up 5.88 percent
• Houston down 1.45 percent
• Laredo up 2.15 percent
• San Antonio down 1.75 percent
