Comptroller distributes $1.2B in monthly sales tax revenue
Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for July, 4.5 percent more than in July 2024.
These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.
In case you’re interested in how other Texas cities compared for the same reporting period, July 2024 vs. July 2025, Austin was up 0.61 percent, Brownsville up 1.67 percent, Dallas down -0.30 percent, El Paso up 3.10 percent, Houston up 5.73 percent, Laredo down -0.31 percent, and San Antonio up 1.54 percent.
