Poetry, reading event slated for Thursday at Quinta Mazatlán

Quinta Mazatlán World Birding Center is honored to host author and poet Katherine Hoerth on Thursday, Jan. 6th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a night of eco-poetry and special reading/book signing of her most recent publication Prairie Madness on the Nature Speaker Series at Quinta Mazatlán.

A Rio Grande Valley native Katherine Hoerth grew up amidst the dense South Texas Brush Country in McAllen.

Just a toss of a cowboy hat from the border, this little corner in the deep south has inspired Katherine in her journey as a renowned poet.

Hoerth is the author of five poetry collections and is the 2015 recipient of the Helen C. Smith Prize for the best book of poetry in Texas and the 2021 Poetry of the Plains Prize from North Dakota State University Press.

Her work has been published in numerous literary magazines including Summerset Review, Valparaiso Review, and Southwestern American Literature. She is a member of the Texas Institute of Letters and in 2017 joined the English department at Lamar University as an Assistant Professor of creative writing and Editor-in-Chief of Lamar University Literary Press.

Tickets are $5 per person. Pre-purchased tickets recommended. Tickets available for purchase at www.quintamazatlan.ticketleap.com.
