Sedate Tabby Cat or Energetic Plott Hound — you choose!
This week’s featured pets are Blake, a two year old female tabby cat, and Dimitri, a 3-year old male Plott Hound Cross. They’re different in just about every way, except for a couple of commonalities — either would make a great pet, AND they want to find their forever homes before Christmas.
Pretty Blake is striped, like all tabbies are, but we think she’s especially attractive with her symmetrical black stripes atop a salt and pepper background. She sports extra-large olive green eyes and her sweet face has cream-colored accents around her eyes and muzzle.
She’s a little bashful around new people, but once she learns she has nothing to fear, she will turn on her “purrmotor” and snuggle up for a cuddle. She’s been used to living communally with other cats so she might prefer to have a cat companion or two, but we’re pretty sure the right new human friend can convince her of the advantages– more food, more attention, more love–and all for her–of not having to share her human with other felines.
If these cooler fall days are making you think of lighting up the fireplace, just think about how nice it would be to have a classic tabby cat–exactly like Blake–curled up by your side as you share the less hectic pace of these lovely days. Blake is purring just thinking about it!
You probably have never heard of a Plott Hound. They are an interesting breed, tall and lean with sleek coats–usually brindled– and Dimitri is no exception. His primary color is black accented by red brindling, with a big splotch of white on his chest and four paws tipped with white. He is athletic and has lots of stamina–hallmarks of a dog who was bred for hunting in the past. In Dimitri’s case, he displays his love for action by chasing a ball or other toy around and running to his heart’s content.
Plott Hounds are the official dog of the state of North Carolina and at least one county has added them to its Sheriff Department as K-9 deputies. So, if you’re a fan of Deputy Dawg, here’s a chance to have your very own potential law enforcement officer.
Dimitri is a Plott Hound crossed with a boxer, however he most closely resembles a purebred Plott Hound. His snout is elongated as seen in the former breed–not as “boxy” as a Boxer. This is an expected characteristic of dogs who are noted for their tracking ability, so be prepared–if you try to hide from him–he will find you, and probably shower you with sloppy doggy kisses when he does. He’s a big boy who weighs about 55 pounds. He would probably enjoy having other dogs to play with, especially if they’re the sort of dogs who like to run and fetch. So, the ideal adoptive “parent” for Dimitri would have a house with a large, securely fenced yard so that he can safely run to his heart’s content.
Dimitri would also enjoy going on long walks with his favorite human and even on car rides. He’s not picky–he will take any type of activity that you want to share with him. He’s a good boy and will be a great companion for some lucky person or family.
Blake is spayed and Dimitri is neutered. Both are up-to-date on their shots. Check out our website at www.cinderella-pet-rescue. org for more information or to fill out our online adoption agreement on either one of them, or give us a call at (956) 391-4399.
