Valley plants program set for Oct. 3 at Quinta Mazatlán

The RGV is full of diverse plant communities, from coastal prairies to dense thorn forest, filled with plant species large and small. Join John Brush at Quinta Mazatlán, Oct. 3 to learn about the characteristics of these habitats, including common plants and rare plants found within.

John Brush is the urban ecologist at Quinta Mazatlán, City of McAllen. Some of his plant-focused duties include implementing habitat creation projects, developing and delivering native plant focused workshops and events, and managing the park's nascent native plant nursery. John received his M.Sc. in Biology from UT Rio Grande Valley. He enjoys sharing his appreciation for Rio Grande Valley plants with others and gardening.

The program is free with general park admission and is slated to start at 6 p.m. For more information, contact (956) 681-3370 and follow Quinta Mazatlán on social media.
