10 reasons to involve your kids in Nature Photography this Summer

Quinta Mazatlán and the Valley Land Fund are hosting a free Youth Nature Photo Contest to raise interest in wildlife and to encourage children ages 5 to 18 to take notice of the beauty of nature in the Rio Grande Valley. Start taking pictures today and enter them online by Aug. 1. One of your child’s photos will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony at Quinta Mazatlan on Aug. 18.

STC's GED resources expanded by Dollar General Foundation grant

Haley Velasquez will be earning her General Education Diploma (GED) at the end of the month after completing the Adult Education program at South Texas College; and thanks to a Dollar General Foundation Adult Education and Literacy Grant, which made this once impossible journey for Velasquez achievable.

This week Cinderella is featuring a couple of sweet females — one feline and the other canine. Gracie Girl is a lovely silver-gray tabby cat, born in December 2020 and Lexie is a pretty blond Short Hair Collie/Lab cross, born in January 2022.

Whataburger co-sponsors Empty Bowls Lower Valley

BROWNSVILLE — The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is excited to announce Whataburger as a grapefruit sponsor for Empty Bowls Lower Valley: Brownsville Edition presented by Boggus Tipton. In addition to sponsoring the Food Bank RGV’s newest Empty Bowls fundraiser in the Lower Valley, Whataburger has also committed to sponsoring Food Bank RGV’s Luncheon and Silent Auction in the Upper Valley, this fall. These sponsorships will enable the Food Bank RGV to provide an additional 50,000 meals for families in need this summer.
