Species - Blue Jay
The blue jay is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, native to eastern North America. It lives in most of the eastern and central United States; some eastern populations may be migratory. Resident populations are also in Newfoundland, Canada; breeding populations are found across southern Canada. It breeds in both deciduous and coniferous forests, and is common in residential areas.

Genus - Cyanocitta
Cyanocitta is a genus of birds in the family Corvidae, a family which contains the crows, jays and magpies. Established by Hugh Edwin Strickland in 1845, it contains the following species: The name Cyanocitta is a combination of the Greek words kuanos, meaning 'dark blue', and kitta, meaning 'jay'.

I was very fortunate to photograph these Blue Jays in my backyard. They don't appear very often and will fly away before I can get my camera focused on them. These are my favorite photos of them all because they're so beautiful and so rare to photograph. — Jan Wendorf
