Hidalgo County Commissioner David Fuentes appointed to TAC Unemployment Fund Board

AUSTIN — The Texas Association of Counties Unemployment Compensation Group Account Fund (TAC Unemployment Fund) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of a new member for 2025. Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes has joined the seven-member board. Commissioner Fuentes has served Hidalgo County since 2017.

“We are pleased to welcome Commissioner Fuentes to the board,” TAC Executive Director Susan Redford said. “His experience and insights will be valuable as we continue supporting counties through this important program.”

Managed by counties for counties, the board brings a unique and informed perspective to the complex needs of local government. Board members oversee policy development, provide negotiations and program service enhancements designed to benefit Texas counties.

The TAC Unemployment Fund offers a comprehensive unemployment compensation solution for its 225 participating groups. It delivers stability and predictability in an area of employment often marked by volatility. The Fund handles claim processing, ensures compliance with state requirements and deadlines, and works proactively with counties and county-related districts to minimize claims exposure.

Through a group reimbursing account, the Fund mitigates immediate financial risk and uncertainty associated with unemployment claims. By distributing costs over time, it creates a sustainable and secure approach for county employers.
