New traffic pattern planned at Pharr Interchange
Special to the Advance
TxDOT and the I-2/I-69C Pharr Interchange Project contractor are planning a temporary new traffic pattern that will soon impact drivers merging from southbound I-69C to westbound I-2, according to a release.
Beginning in mid to late April, the travel lanes on Direct Connector 4 (DC 4), also known as the ‘Edinburg-to-McAllen connector,’ will merge directly onto the current westbound I-2 main lanes.
The change will also affect drivers traveling on the westbound I-2 frontage road, between Sugar Road and Jackson Road. Road crews will temporarily close the on ramp west of Sugar Road to allow for the reconstruction of the future westbound I-2 travel lanes and the future on and off-ramps on this segment of I-2.
