Comptroller distributes $1.1B in monthly sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for September, 6.3 percent more than in September 2023.

These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly.

In case you're interested in how other Texas cities compared for the same reporting period, September 2023 vs. September 2024, Austin was up 5.93 percent, Brownsville up 13.31 percent, Dallas up 2.39 percent, El Paso up 11.99 percent, Houston up 3.57 percent, Laredo up 6.15 percent, and San Antonio up 6.78 percent.
