Comptroller Hegar distributes $1.07B in monthly sales tax revenue to cities
AUSTIN — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced last week he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $1.07 billion in local sales tax allocations for November, 20.6 percent more than in November 2020.
These allocations are based on sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly, and on sales made in July, August and September by quarterly filers. In case you're interested in how other Texas cities compared for the same reporting period, August 2020 vs. August 2021, Austin was up 32.32 percent, Brownsville up 8.65 percent, Dallas up 40.72 percent, El Paso up 14.81 percent, Houston up 14.84 percent, Laredo up 19.97 percent, and San Antonio up 20.22 percent.
