Comptroller Hegar distributes $1.2B in monthly sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 2.8 percent more than in August 2022.

These allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly.

For other Texas cities compared to one another for the same reporting period, August 2022 vs. August 2023, Austin was up 1.82 percent, Brownsville down 0.24 percent, Dallas down 1.46 percent, El Paso up 5.29 percent, Houston up 2.68 percent, Laredo up 6.13 percent, and SanAntonio up 1.08 percent.
