The craziness still continues
The hardest thing about this pandemic, beside the fact that it’s killed more than 800,000 Americans, is the fact that too many people still won’t get vaccinated and they refuse to wear a face mask when they’re in a crowded venue.
About 40% of omicron infections are asymptomatic. Meaning, at this very moment while you’re reading this, you could be infected with the omicron variant and not even know it. That’s really the reason for the face mask.
Some of this no-vax demographic includes friends and family, and I still don’t get it. I just don’t discuss it because once someone’s mind is convinced, there’s no changing it, at least 99% of the time.
To suggest that they’re being irresponsible is an attack on their personal liberties, they say. Plus, some just don’t trust the vaccine even though it’s proven to be a miracle of sorts, which is why about 90-plus% of the seriously ill COVID cases taking up hospital beds include the unvaccinated. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to immediately notice the correlation. Still, about 40% of the adult population refuses to consider the obvious — COVID vaccines free up hospital beds and don’t tax the health and well-being of those who work in the healthcare industry.
Some of the stories from across the state and country are heartbreaking, when you hear from some nurses and doctors who are now being threatened (bodily) by Billy Bob’s family because the docs won’t pump Billy B up with Ivermectin even though the cons outweigh the pros, and docs try to follow the dictum: First, do no harm.
Plus, the FDA doesn’t recommend it, so the docs’ hands are tied. Not only that, but Billy Bob’s family is the type that even if threats of murder forced a physician to give old Bill some Ivermectin, if he died, then the docs and hospital would still be sued. This is how the real world plays out most often.
“They gave Billy Bob that damn Ivermectin.”
“Yeah, but you threatened to shoot up the hospital if we didn’t.”
“Don’t matter. We loved Billy Bob, and you took him from us. Somebody needs to pay.”
Now, some crazy California court has ruled that a woman can sue her employer because she claims she caught the novel coronavirus at work, brought it home to her husband, and he died, so now the employer owes her money.
That’s screwed up on so many levels. No. 1, there’s no telling where she caught COVID, and if that lawsuit tangent is allowed to proceed, others filed behind it, it’s going to decimate the business industry and drive higher the price of goods and services.
Tell you what I suggest if the anti-vaxxers really want to be free — don’t get vaccinated, don’t wear a mask, but if you get real sick from COVID, the hospitals can just send you home.
No help at the inn, so to speak, for the irresponsible.
If they didn’t believe enough in medical science to get vaccinated, believe in the efficiency of the mRNA vaccines, then why should they take up hospital beds where they now want to rely on medical science to stay alive?
Go home with your fever and splitting headache, your inability to suck in sufficient air, and do an online search for fellow anti-vaxxers. Maybe they can talk you through the recovery process, provided you recover. Plenty of people to pray over you. Will that work?
Poor dead guy
Just recently, I was reading about some poor vaccinated guy who caught COVID. He had developed a bad case of Sepsis (body’s extreme response to an infection), but was stuck in the rural hospital where he was first transported by ambulance because all of the big-city hospital beds nearby, including the ICUs, were full, mainly comprised of unvaccinated COVID patients.
In the end, after waiting two weeks, the poor guy died in the rural-hospital bed, denied access to equipment and care that might have improved his chances of survival.
The unfairness of that story is striking. Why should a guy who did everything right (get vaccinated) die just because there are too many people who live in his part of the state who are vax deniers, but are then able to still access the healthcare system, bogging it down in the process, when they get sick? Meanwhile, the health-care workers get even more work heaped upon them. Hospitals in many parts of the country are struggling to stay open.
“I ain’t getting none of that vaccine BS. All it is, is a government plot to enslave us all.”
The sad part is, there are millions among us who think this way.
Then they get deathly ill like the latest podcaster to catch the bug — Doug Kuzma, who is based out of Pennsylvania. He’s a big anti-vaxxer; and was at a conservative conference in Dallas Dec. 9 through the 11th and is now on a ventilator.
The “hoax” has knocked him down to the ground.
