Diaz announces run for Hidalgo County Clerk

McALLEN—Air Force veteran Dr. Minerva Diaz has filed to run for Hidalgo County Clerk, a position currently held by Arturo Guajardo Jr. for the last 15 years. In 2019 our community was immensely impacted by COVID-19 and many families struggled with the loss of loved ones and trying to keep services going. Recognizing the toll and impact COVID-19 has had within our community is a motivator of why I am running for office.

“Hidalgo County is a growing community of over eight hundred thousand residents according to the US Census and I am prepared and ready to lead our County into a new direction with my years of military service and leadership,” said Diaz.

Diaz wants to ensure the county clerk office remains open for business to ensure residents and businesses have no interruption of services while recognizing the safety of everyone. Diaz said she intends to have efficient policies and protocols for continuity of government for all litigants, attorneys and department staff.

She served as a former captain and veteran in the United States Air Force and has served as an Air Force Investigator, Operations Manager, Command and Control Officer. She seeks to have fair elections, efficient record keeping and service to all as she seeks to become the next Hidalgo County Clerk. Diaz will be on the March Primary Republican ballot and General Election ballot in November.

Minerva is a mother of three adult children, grandmother to twin boys and a cat lover to Kitty Kat.
