Elections department accepting apps for poll workers
EDINBURG — The Hidalgo County Elections Department is hiring poll workers to work the Nov. 5, 2024 Presidential Election. A new law went into effect on Sept. 1 2023, SB 924, mandating that Hidalgo County secure and obtain a total of 129 polling locations on Election Day, Nov. 5, 2024. This is an increase of 43 polling locations, compared to the 86 polling locations the Elections Department opened on Election Day during the Nov. 8, 2022 General Election.
“To meet this mandate, our office has secured the number of polling locations needed,” said Elections Administrator Hilda A. Salinas. “Although the polling locations have been secured, in order to open and administer the election in accordance with the new law, we need to hire poll workers.”
