Former Edinburg councilman to run for Hidalgo County Precinct 4 commissioner

EDINBURG — Edinburg native, former city councilman and successful business owner, Homer Jasso, Jr. files for his place on the ballot for Hidalgo County Commissioner, Pct. 4, Wednesday morning at local HCDP office in McAllen, TX.

He challenges one-term incumbent, Ellie Torres.

Jasso, Jr. assisted in renovating the Edinburg Parks & Recreation Center to a state-of-the-art facility that now caters to thousands of children every year. During his two-term service with the Edinburg City Council, projects such as Bert Ogden Arena, UTRGV Medical School, H-E-B Park and several economic projects were completed to facilitate the growth of the city.

Jasso’s business sense and fiscal responsibility have helped in executing his vision. He said that Hidalgo County is one of the fastest growing regions, and as a result, accomodating the growth is his top priority.

“I look forward to bringing my experience and knowledge of infrastructure, budgeting, and growth to the forefront of Precinct 4,” he said.

Precinct 4 includes, Edinburg, North McAllen, San Carlos and La Blanca.
