Learning God’s Will (Part IV of IV)

Considerations

There is a story about a dear lady whose husband had recently died without a written will. Yet, confidently she was going right ahead and making the necessary decisions without hesitation. She said, “I lived with my husband for forty years. I knew him so well that I know exactly what he would have done.” Even though he did not write it, she knew her husband’s will. How did she know it? Through companionship with him day by day and year by year. So it is with the will of God.

As we live close to Him, read the Bible that He inspired, talk with Him through prayer, worship Him with others in the services of the church, work with Him in the bringing of His kingdom on Earth, we do come to know Him and to love Him. In knowing God, we know His will. In loving God, we want to do His will.

God directs our paths through the talents He blesses us with; the opportunities He sends our way; the small, seemingly insignificant workings of providence in our lives, and the friendship and companionship we share with our Lord.

Do you know the will of God in your life?
