Lowest illegal border crossings in 40 years
Border Czar Tom Homan, a cop in one form or another his entire adult life, is all over the media these days doing interviews with both friend and foe.
As far as he’s concerned, ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is making the country safer, its residents safer, thanks to President Donald Trump and federal agents, and he can’t understand why politicians from the blue states continue to offer safe haven (sanctuary cities) to convicted violent offenders, or those under criminal indictment for alleged violent crimes, many including crimes against children.
By the way, Homan says there are approximately 600,000 violent offenders still walking the streets, but ICE is going to track them down.
Some politicians, Homan told Fox Business, like AOC, are, in his opinion impeding federal investigations. As a result, he is actively seeking a legal opinion from the DOJ exactly where the line of division is between reminding people of their civil rights, despite being in this country illegally because they do indeed still have rights, vs. actively telling them how to escape federal agents, AKA, impeding justice.
Thirty-five-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known as AOC, is an American politician and activist serving since 2019 as the U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district.
Eager for the spotlight, some argue, right or wrong, AOC is traditionally loved by the Left and despised by the Right.
She has been one of the Democrat politicians in a blue state sanctuary city, NY, actively working to get out the word about ICE.
Is she telling people how to escape ICE agents, that’s what Homan wants to know. If so, isn’t that a crime — facilitating the escape of wanted felons?
Meanwhile, Border Czar Tom Homan pointed out Monday that during a 24-hour period (Saturday through Sunday) agents along the southwest border with Mexico only encountered 229 people.
By definition, an “encounter” is when a non-citizen is encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol or the Office of Field Operations (OFO) while trying to enter the U.S. illegally.
“I’ve worked Border Patrol since 1984,” said Homan, “and that’s the lowest number I’ve ever seen. What was it under Biden? Approximately 11,000 per day.”
News also broke late last week that U.S. Special Forces may be working with the Mexican Marines (Navy), which was the real armed force going after the cartels, approximately seven years ago, all wearing black ski masks to avoid identification as much as possible so their families wouldn’t be threatened.
Think of it this way — the Mexican Marines comprise the naval infantry force trained to fight on land.
Like the Mexican drug cartels, they carry heavy artillery, and they don’t run from shoot-outs.
Mexican cynics said that they were doing such a good job, that’s why Mexico’s federal government pulled them off the job when the presidential administrations changed six years ago and replaced them with the more genteel National Guard.
Homan has made the point now that President Trump has declared Mexican drug cartels to be full-blown terrorist organizations, a lot of things are possible, like us partnering up with Mexico at least with training, more weaponry maybe, how to take them out once and for all.
If the southern border is indeed closed, for all illegal trade, cartel trade routes dried up, then where else is there for them to go considering that Americans are the biggest consumer of illegal drugs and illegal labor, both highly profitable to los narcos.
Holman said the Mexican politicians don’t like the state of the country, but what can they do, practically speaking?
If a cartel threatens to shoot the children and spouse of a politician, given their history of gory violence, who can stand up to that?
So, yes, he said, the U.S. will help as much as it can eradicating this deadly form of cancer (the drug cartels, according to Homan) who have helped kill approximately 750,000 people (mainly fentanyl), which includes more lives lost (U.S. military combatants) than in all our wars fought in the modern era.
Henry Cuellar Speaks Out
As often goes the saying, a Democrat in South Texas is nothing like a Democrat in New York.
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) proved that almost two weeks ago on the broadcast of NewsNation’s “The Hill” when he had this to say about so-called sanctuary cities, a la those in Chicago, New York which refused to cooperate with ICE, although NY:
“It’s common sense. We don’t have any sanctuary cities along the border because we want to make sure that we have law and order.”
Cuellar wasn’t through though:
“…if anybody wants to come into the United States, they do it the legal way like my parents did, and it’s important. So, no, I don’t support any sanctuary cities. And I think I’ve even voted to cut funding for sanctuary city policies.”
What does the congressman have to think about ICE?
“Well, look, if ICE is going after criminals, who is against sending criminals out? Who’s against arresting criminals? So, again, with all due respect to that area, and it should not be a Democratic or a Republican question, it should be, should we enforce the law, and the law says that if we have criminals, criminal aliens, they should be picked up.” (Source: Breitbart.com.)
