McAllen Police Department probes homicide
McALLEN — A 37-year-old male has been put in custody after local law enforcement here found a woman dead at a residence.
Esai Longoria, of McAllen, is facing charges of Murder, Resisting Arrest/Search/Transportation, Assault on a Peace Officer, and Injury to Elderly.
McAllen officers responded to a 911 call at the 1500 block of Redwood Avenue on Saturday around 10:28 p.m. after the reporting party — which is the grandmother of the suspect — called about the suspect pushing her. In a release by the department, the grandmother also reported that Longoria was schizophrenic and not taking his medication.
Officers arrived to the scene to find that the "male locked himself in the house" and screams from him can be heard. In that same report, officers were able to make entry into the residence and secured Longoria.
Inside, officers found a woman dead from stab wounds.
The victim has been identified as Anna Maria Hidalgo. She was 58 and a McAllen resident.
Longoria is awaiting arraignment in the McAllen Municipal Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
