Social Security Fraud at Work?
After running three border-related pieces on the front page two weeks ago, a reader sent us this response: “You should have enough border news to write about for the next four years.”
What were those three stories — one an opinion column, the other two, news.
Here they are: Doctored Photos (someone was Photoshopping ICE photos, making federal agents out to be the bad guys; the violent offenders being arrested the victims).

Another story, and this was an opinion column: the McAllen protests by the anti- ICE local group who, in my opinion, has no idea what they’re doing, but they can bottleneck up S. 10th St. on a busy shopping day just like any other clueless group.

Last story: a story that included an interview with Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra who spoke about the benefit to county residents having a federal agency standing by, ICE, willing and ready to pick up violent felons his office had been tracking but couldn’t locate.

Not sure if the leaders of the McAllen ICE protest parade were hoping to have them ride a float (the felons), but by then, at least six were in federal custody, and the parade had come to an end.
As I mentioned last week, one guy compared me and this newspaper to the KKK. He couldn’t say what he disagreed with what was written. Only that we were somehow racists.
Racist MAGA?
Then, we come to this weekend’s 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, which I watched the first year it aired in 1975. Back then it was funny. What happened?
This weekend, Actor Tom Hanks was one of the SNL guests. He was wearing a red hat with the MAGA slogan written across the front — Make America Great Again.
Hanks spoke with this hick accent, mentioned the benefits of attending church, and then indicated that he was opposed to shaking the black hand of the Black Jeopardy skit’s host.
All of which, of course, paints every white MAGA supporter as a racist.
No danger there of stirring up violence.
So when the guy mentioned at the top of this column said I’d have a lot to write about with regard to border security over the next four years, that comes with some trepidation on my part.
For example, is Hanks, who lives, no doubt, in a highly secured celebrity enclave, not happy to see the violent offenders removed from American streets by ICE.
Is he not happy to have both borders, north and south, better secured?
Is he not happy that at least someone is pouring over the federal books, which should have been done ages ago, to see just how much American taxpayers’ dollars, including his, are lost in waste and fraud?
Goodbye, SS Director
Now, this week, the acting head of the Social Security Administration has resigned.
Good, and good riddance.
She says it’s because Elon Musk and DOGE would have access to Social Security numbers, and because she cares so much about citizens’ rights, she’s resigning.
What do you bet that’s a load of bull?
The reason she’s resigning is she knows what DOGE is going to find in the confines of Social Security when they pour through it with a finetooth comb, like they did at USAID:
Mountains, and mountains, and mountains of waste and fraud.
Like Musk said last week, if people age 150 are still on the books receiving Social Security checks, something is surely rotten in Denmark. Too, apparently, there are many people with the same Social Security number receiving benefits. That needs fact-checking, but I’ll bet it’s true.
Still, if someone doesn’t believe there is vast, vast fraud inside Social Security, they’re one sandwich shy of a picnic.
Four years ago, I was happy Trump lost the election because I thought he had so badly screwed up the pandemic.
Then we get four years of Joe Biden, who was, I’m guessing, suffering from some degree of dementia at least during three years of his presidency.
Who was running the country then? Jill. Who knows. Doubt it was Kamala Harris.
Of course, the mainstream press, all in a tizzy now because they hate Trump, couldn’t be bothered to let the public know that our president wasn’t playing with a full deck.
Just disgusting. Politics. And how so many people can’t see the bigger picture?
Too many.
Meanwhile, the Democrat Party still has learned nothing. The only thing they can do is launch personal attacks against Trump, Musk, and anyone who supports the work they are doing.
The Kumbaya Moment
Despite this terrible track record of Americans poking each other in the face over politics, you know the only time I can remember both parties, almost all media outlets including Fox and CNN, come together to support a cause?
It was when Bush Jr. and his puppet master, VP Darth Vader, launched both the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars.
This newspaper opposed it, and we lost subscribers and advertisers, but good riddance if you were that stupid to support two wars that had nothing to do with us or 9/11.
Trillions were spent, thousands of our military troops wounded and dead, terrible civilian casualties in both Iraq and Afghanistan, thanks to our military, and the military weapon contractors, who were raking in billions, thanks to the wars, including Cheney’s Haliburton.
Yet, the NY Times helped lie the American people into the wars, with the help of “conservative” Fox and “liberal” CNN.
Only later did the American public ever learn that the George W. Bush administration was actually hosting focus groups to see what was the real hot-button issue that would get Americans on board with the war.
WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction)?
Really?
Okay, we’ll use that, scare people with that.
WMDs, WMDs, WMDs, WMDs.
From there, the war mongers were cheering on our poor military troops while losing billions in Iraq and Afghanistan, with very few in the media denouncing their deceitful, deadly, money-making ventures, that still today should rank as war crimes.
So, no, don’t ever call me a Republican or a Democrat.
Both parties include too many incompetents, charlatans, fraudsters, who couldn’t successfully run a lemonade stand during a hot summer day.
The only good thing is, their mask is finally coming off, the truth revealed, thanks to Donald Trump and his administration.
If you hate him for doing that, then so much the pity.
