For some reason, out of all the professional sports, baseball remains my favorite, despite the stupid changes made to the game over the years. Instant Replay Review, for example, which is usually anything but instant. Still, while the world continues to speed up around us, baseball keeps us at a pace that remains slow and easy. Plus, the team fights that empty the dugouts are always a nice addition to the game.
Food Bank RGV unveils new Mission Resource Center
— The Food Bank RGV is proud to announce the opening of its new Mission Resource Center, a partnership with the City of Mission, which will serve as a comprehensive hub for social services, nutrition education, and food assistance for the community. The Center is located at the former Mission Food Pantry and will be open to the public for the first time on Thursday, March 2.
How do you live your life when nobody’s watching?
Some years ago, when I was a high school teacher, I was going over vocabulary words in an English class and I asked my students if any of them knew the meaning of integrity. A hand went up immediately and a young lady answered, “That sign over your door?” Above the door in my classroom was a sign visible only on the way out that depicted a big eye and read “How do you live your life when nobody’s watching?” Generally speaking, that question may be the simplest definition of integrity. But what about Christian integrity? If we are truly who we profess to be as followers of Christ, then the when in that question has to come out, because there is never a time when we’re not being watched.
