Special to the Advance McALLEN — Each spring, monarch butterflies migrate north during March and April. On Saturday, April 1st, Quinta Mazatlan will be hosting the 7th annual Monarch Fest presented by H-E-B from 9 am to 2 pm in McAllen, with the Mayors Bug Parade at 11 am in the park.
Flying a single-engine plane backwards, now that’s a trick. I was still a student pilot when I first saw how it was done. At the time, I was learning the rules of slow flight.

Macon is a thirteen-month old female Shepherd with a golden brown coat with black highlights. She’s got great big ears and large feet that indicate she’s got a bit more growing to do. She is friendly, eager to please, and she gets along well with other dogs. She really loves the water–splashing around in her doggy pool, or even in a bucket of water, as shown above. You’ll be picking a real Georgia peach if you adopt Macon. Imagine how much fun it would be for all concerned if you provided her with her very own doggie wading pool!
