‘Significant Wildlife Conservation Bill’ ready for votes in House, Senate

The strongly bipartisan Recovering America’s Wildlife Act is out of committee and ready for floor votes in both the US Senate and the US House of Representatives. This landmark wildlife conservation bill would direct nearly $1.4 billion annually to state and tribal wildlife agencies to protect thousands of at-risk species.

Homeowner assistance and reimbursement programs open to residents

PHARR — The City of Pharr is working with the Texas General Land Office to remind residents that funding is available for the Homeowners Assistance and Reimbursement Programs. The program which opened one year ago was set up to help local residents impacted by the 2018-2019 flooding from storms that affected the Rio Grande Valley.

Cartel kills bridge blockade

As an attempt to show their displeasure over Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s border policy that went into effect April 6, which included safety inspections of all commercial trucks heading into the U.S. at major points of entry along the Texas border, some Mexican truckers, owners/ operators, decided to form a bridge blockade last week as a sign of protest.

Pharr Bridge Empty of Traffic

Mexican truckers, owners/operators, can put up with a lot. Cartel shakedowns, stolen trucks, a lot of hours behind the wheel, higher gas prices, mountains of paperwork. The one thing they can’t put up with, however, as evidenced by the shutdown of the Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge Monday and Tuesday, is passing through U.S. Customs and then having to immediately deal with Texas DPS’s new inspection policy made pub-lic last week.
