Comptroller Glenn Hegar distributes $1.2 billion in monthly sales tax revenue to cities

AUSTIN — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $1.22 billion in local sales tax allocations for February, 16.4 percent more than in February 2021. These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2021 sales by businesses that report tax annually. And in case you’re interested in how other Texas cities compared for the same reporting period, February 2021 vs. February 2022, Austin was up 21.59%, Brownsville up 20.60%, Dallas up 10.68%, El Paso up 17.76%, Houston up 12.15%, Laredo up 23.09%, and San Antonio up 17.54%.
