Pharr assistant city attorney appointed associate judge of Title IV-D Master Court I

PHARR — The City of Pharr is proud to announce that Assistant City Attorney, Kriselda "Kris" Hinojosa, has been appointed as the new Associate Judge of the Title IV-D Master Court I in Hidalgo County, which also includes jurisdiction in Jim Hogg County by 5th Administrative Judicial Region, by Presiding Judge Missy Medary.

Two Hidalgo Co. drainage district employees sent to hospital following bee attack

EDINBURG — Two employees with the Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 were sent to an area hospital after sustaining multiple stings from a bee attack. The two men were repairing erosion to a drainage ditch near Ridge Road between Jackson and Cage roads when they came across a swarm of bees and were stung more than 100 times each, according to first responders at the scene. The incident happened just before noon on Monday.

Feds work to reduce size of camp under Del Rio bridge that’s housing thousands of migrants who fled unrest and natural disasters

DEL RIO — Federal agents said Sunday that they have begun to draw down the population of the thousands of migrants, mostly from Haiti, who were stuck seeking shelter under a bridge in this small border community as authorities sought to process their asylum claims.
