EDINBURG – The Texas Healthy Communities Program recognized Hidalgo County's Health and Human Services department for its efforts to reduce cardiovascular disease, stroke, and other chronic diseases.
At the completion of an assessment from the THCP, Hidalgo County achieved a score of 97.5 points out of a possible 100, earning a recognition level of Gold from the program, said Health and Human Services Chief Administrative Officer Eduardo "Eddie" Olivarez.
"This award is a direct result of collaborative efforts of a workgroup coordinated by Ricardo Salinas," Olivarez said.
