Hidalgo County Commissioners Court approved funding in the amount of $50,000 towards the Children's Advocacy Center, also known as Estrella's House. Section 381.004 (f) of the Local Government Code states: "The Commissioners Court of a county may support a Children's Advocacy Center that provides services to abused children." The community-based nonprofit has been serving county children and families affected by abuse or neglect for 19 years.
