Please remove your mind from the gutter. You saw the headline, and depending on your station in life, you either thought it was funny or vulgar. There’s a valid explanation and it’s all Kosher.
In the old days, the handle of the throttle in an airplane was usually round and resembled a ball. Obviously, twinengine planes have two engines/two throttles. So, when the pilot gave the plane full throttle, both balls were pushed toward the instrument panel (the wall – Balls to the Wall). Now it just means, “to give something maximum effort.” (Wendorf’s Definition.)
