The City of Alamo has begun construction on an infrastructure modernization project that will install modern, energy efficient LED lighting in all city facilities and state-of-the-art water meters city-wide. While these “smart city” solutions will certainly help modernize the city infrastructure, there is real financial benefit to this project as well: • Converting all city buildings to LED lighting will reduce the city’s energy use by 74% • State-of-the-art water meters city-wide will ensure accurate billing and reduce maintenance costs maintenance associated with outdated equipment. • The city will receive a $35,000 rebate from AEP for its use of energy efficient fixtures.
