Back in 1922 the Supreme Court ruled that major league baseball was exempt from anti-trust laws. The legislature never passed a law to that effect. Major league football and basketball have no such exemption. Last week Republican senators lead by Ted Cruz introduced legislation to strip baseball of its exemption. Why? The argument goes something like this. Baseball is a monopoly and used its monopolistic powers to remove the All Star Game from largely black Atlanta and move it to almost totally white Denver.
