Flying through the rainbow

There is an old adage in aviation that goes like this: “Flying is 99 percent boredom and one percent sheer terror.” That probably sums up the life of a professional pilot fairly well. Although, even the “boredom” in aviation isn’t really boring. There’s always something aloft to admire and raise the spirits as long as it’s not black smoke billowing from one of the engines.
