Edinburg wins State National Baseball Congress crown in 1967

EDINBURG - In the decade of the 1960s the Edinburg Joe Davis Ginners dominated the Rio Grande Valley semipro baseball scene. It was an era when semipro baseball was still alive and well, with teams battling each other from within the four county areas and Mexico. The Edinburg boys made their home in a small ballpark on the northeast side of Edinburg. The “hidden gem” did not mesmerize you with its beauty, but it did strike a chord with its ambience. Unique to the period, the wooden-bleachers ballpark always had a healthy opinionated crowd with enough “Pearl Beer” to last a doubleheader,
