A wetter summer than normal

A lot of people probably don’t know this, but before the age of local irrigation (early 1900s), the Rio Grande Valley was once called the Wild Horse Desert because of its relative lack of rain compared to, let’s say, Corpus Christi (31.7) and Austin (34.25). In comparison, Hidalgo County, averages 23 inches of the wet stuff per year. Thankfully, this summer has been wetter than our average summer, which suits me just fine.
