EDINBURG – No one will ever know how much alcohol, if any, that Carlos Rodriguez Santiago had in his blood stream when he slammed his pickup truck (allegedly) into 18-year-old Edinburg resident Lorena Perez and her companion, a minor, at approximately 9:35 p.m the night of Aug. 1.
Santiago, as charged, fled the scene, leaving behind in his wake a dead mom-to-be and her eight-month old unborn child. Efforts to save the baby via C-section at a local hospital proved unsuccessful.
The fatal crash occurred on N. Alamo Rd., north of Mile 17.
