EDINBURG — Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Memorial Park on Monday in Edinburg.Representatives from the offices of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez, State Representative Terry Canales and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department were in attendance.Torres said she plans to expand the existing park amenities at the Memorial (Sunflower) Park to include an inclusive playground, splash pad, exercise station, baseball field, basketball court, soccer field, picnic facilities, pavilion and site furnishings, shade structures, lighted walking trail, a parking lot, and native plants.
