South Texas ISD has some possible ‘hurt’ coming its way

This week I interviewed, for starters, Edinburg CISD Superintendent Mario Salinas and Board President Mike Farias about their push to get the Texas legislature to eliminate South Texas ISD as a taxing authority. McAllen ISD is also considering the issue, and, too, are other area school districts who haven’t yet voted on forming a bond, so to speak, under the auspices of the “South Texas Association of Schools,” an advocacy group.State Representative Terry Canales is also considering a move in that direction.I ran out of time to get the story in this week’s print issue.
