Great childhood growing up in the westside of Pharr

To the Editor:This past week I took a walk around my old stomping grounds of West Juarez where my 95-year-old mom still lives. I remembered the Garza, Cano, Cantu, Saldana, Palacios, and Sanchez families among many more who lived or still live in el barrio.I saw Napper Elementary school where me and my friends went from 1st to 3rd grade and then to Buckner and then Edison and Jefferson Jr. High, and finally to PSJA High School.At Jefferson, the Pharr students went from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. while the San Juan and Alamo students went in the afternoon!I tell ...
